14/365 shot with old automatic Point and Shoot Camera

Yesterday no time for my shot as I was still moving my kitchen, so today will do 2 shots.

Shot with an old and automatic point and shoot camera!

first here is 14/365, a shot done for Saturday’s food photography class at pantry magic to show the differences between light when its direct and hard or diffused, perhaps not the best time to do this as the sun was very high, but just don’t have enough time to do this otherwise.

Direct sunlight, the shot below is the same but with a large diffuser held between the sun and the fruits.

Direct Sun Light

Wityh diffuser between sun and subject

11/365 Super Wide

Elements, Kowloon Station–Tung Chung Line, Airport Express and the entrance to several buildings Podium all in one shot!
From my viewpoint the lower floor is a drop of (roughly estimating) 20 meters, and the top of the interior, at the end of the escalators is at least another 20 meters up if not more.

Shot with Canon 15 MM Fisheye f2.8 and applied perspective correction in LR3

10/365 Street View

I am moving Office and Kitchen as we are under renovation, and no off course this ain’t my office nor my temporary office, but I passed it while walking home and found it was an interesting place, had a nice feel to it, even though its messy, made up from bits and pieces etc, you can feel clearly that someone makes this “home” ever day.I pass this place every day on my way home from work.

3/365 Distortion

365 day 3 , decided to do something fun and weird at the same time, mounted fisheye lens and went in real close to on purpose create freaky distortion. my boy is still laughing from the session…..he is still at that age, luckily!
In photography and cinematography, perspective distortion is a warping or transformation of an object and its surrounding area that differs significantly from what the object would look like with a normal focal length, due to the relative scale of nearby and distant features. Perspective distortion is determined by the relative distances at which the image is captured and viewed, and is due to the angle of view of the image (as captured) being either wider or narrower than the angle of view at which the image is viewed, hence the apparent relative distances differing from what is expected.

and an out take, my ugly mug!

2/365 sick, flu, cold

man……..2nd day this doesnt prove good so far, but that means i am learning……..hope i improve fast on doing anything right whenever! haha.
what i tried to do is portray my youngest son Jens who is sick with the cold, as being so, so I thought to gel the key light blue…..but came back on that very soon as it became nearly impossible to color the medicine differently then, so ended up using a tungsten white balance instead, turning the whole scene blue……..adding a snooted and gridded spot to the medicine as i wanted to warm that up and make that feel as "the cure". this all whilst struggling with a boy who had his own ideas of the set etc. fine it dindt work to well either, tomorrow will be another day :)strobist info: 1 umbrella right, i snooted gridded & gelled spot on medicine

Biting right into project 365

Project 365, or taking an image a day for 365 days, I wanted to do this project a long time already, but always to many excuses, planned on getting it started on January 1st, but got cold feet. Finally decided to be a man and give it a try, so here I am biting right into my 365.

My thoughts on this project are simple, it gets me shooting more, gets me out of the door more, and as I shoot more I will hopefully become better and better at what I do with my camera.  I doubt if I am creative enough and consistent enough to keep this going every day, whilst keeping you entertained!? but sure I can try and take from it what i can get.

I think it will be more interesting for me then sticking with DPC which in itself is great, but doesn’t appeal that much or encourage me that much.

not such a good one for first day, but this had to be done on a long and busy day in between functions etc, so had literally 10 minutes before quick dinner to set up.
Set up was simple enough this time, with 1 flash bounced into ceiling (should have tried the wall instead) and 1 flash zoomed in and fired into a floor skip which was actually a piece of Mah Jong paper to create the nice catch lights in the eye. (learned about the floor skip on Joe Mcnally’s workshop last week)

If you are interested to follow me with this, check back here though am not sure I want to post all 365 shots here, in any other case you can see them on my flickr 365 set which you can find here. Flickr

So now you know what I had for dinner!

Until tomorrow!
